Japanese Shiba branding

Construction Shiba

Shiba operating a tract crane - an owner's worst nightmare?

I am a point ‘n click game fan and one of the games I went to happened to be on a site that had, I noticed, some cute Shiba branding. The site is called http://dorubako.jp and I have no clue what it’s all about, except that it has a little Shiba as one of its mascots.

I have no clue what this is saying.  It looks like a game site, but I can’t be sure.  Hell, I don’t know if it’s advertising anything safe or legal.  But the graphics are cute.  Give them your money.

Come to think of it, the little Shiba below looks a lot like a picture I have up on my Tierce for Baron blog (long story – I’m campaigning for Tierce to become the figurehead for my SCA group).

I did it! Shassi pawprint tattoo

Remember this post?  Yeah, I finally got it done!  Not in the shoulder, where I figured on getting it in the first place.  My tattooist at Black and Blue Tattoo advised me that it would look a little lost and lonely on my shoulder and recommended somewhere where it would stand out.  I picked my left forearm (the symbolism for evil and wrongdoing appealed to me). Eventually I would like to write something – “Shassi: 1993-2010” (Assuming she makes it to the New Year) or “The Misanthropic Shiba” above and below “Shassi: 1993-2010”.  Something like that.  But for now, I’m very happy with Shassi’s paw print and looking forward to having more art done in the future.

Plagiarism with Shibas?

A comment to my Random Thoughts post by Tamara alerted me to a possible plaigarism scandal!  The picture that I linked to on the right and here bears more than a passing resemblance to the picture on the left and here.  Now I can see how stuff like this can go either way – if you’re creating art, what’s the difference between seeing a general theme and using it and copying someone else’s idea?  Thoughts?

This reminds me of a find I made a while back when searching eBay.ca for Shiba stuff.  I found a mousepad with a familiar picture – a picture of Tierce’s dad,  Ch. Sunojo’s Aporo Gami Go.  I emailed Sunojo about it and got the reply that it was indeed a stolen image.  It’s still up there.  eBay told me that if I was not the owner of the picture, they couldn’t do anything, but I think it’s a damned shame.

Interesting update to this: I got an email back from the eBay site owner stating that they had gotten the picture from a photo package.  So the plot thickens.  They sent me a nice letter, so I sent them a nice letter stating that they might want to contact Susan Norris-Jones, the kennel owner, to inform her of this.
