Reminds me of today here. I own a boarding kennel. So in comes the pyscho chihuahua. I know she is nuts. I almost get her to the cage and out she slips from the HARNESS. Lucky for me her brother chihua gets his flexi stuck on the fence. The little lady named appropriately "Baby" runs straight for my mother Shiba. Now this girl is a piranha anyways. I had on GREAT outdoor uggs, so the many bites were not felt near as hard. This dog thought I was made of steel. But had she scaled the fence she thought was freedom would have been for sure danger. "Essie" the Shiba is a great dog but like "Buddy" She is a Shiba Inu. And a mother at that. Well I finally got through to "baby" That there was immanent danger awaiting. She backed down and melted,, while growling... Thanks as always for a great site!!

Thanks for your wonderful website. You have achieved your goal of sharing important information as well as good advice, and realistic commentary on what living with these wonderful (and often exasperating!!!) dogs is like. You are right: most sites do NOT adequately explain much more than what a breed is, and where it came from. Your site has had me laughing and nodding my head in agreement, for the last hour or so. It is great to know that other Shiba owners are facing the same challenges--and with a healthy dose of humor. Happy New Year from Tennessee!

Thanks for your thoughtful sharing of that awful experience. The sheer panic during what must seem like a lifetime is only natural. Sounds like Buddy's folks were comfortable enough to break up the dogs.

Our experience was with a Corgi who didn't take well to a shiba play bow. Nice dogs. Bad mix at the wrong time. Fortunately, no damage.

BTW, it's good to see you on Wordpress, and the dialogues with Tierce are so funny and true!

Hi to Tierce and Shassi from Kyoto and Karinoe on Canada's south coast.
